Remember our veterans this 4th of July! Our honorable military service members include these fine officers who don’t get the recognition they deserve!
Remember our Veterans during your 4th of July celebrations. I thought it was very fitting this 4th of July to honor those who don’t get the recognition they deserve. They are gay and lesbian service members who serve because it is there way to give something back to the country that gave them much. They are fighting for our Freedoms, Liberties and way of life alongside our other veterans.

I felt it necessary to post this because ever since the actions from the supreme court striking down DOMA, the gay community has been subject to hate from a few Tea Party Members, not all of them, but enough to post this article in opposition to the Bigotry I myself have been subjected to for making a stand against hate and not wanting to violate my own moral compass. I Wrote about that and you can read it in this link: I cannot walk away from my own moral compass. These brave souls chose to honor their country and serve in the military under harsh conditions knowing they had to remain secret about who they were. This post in the video I posted here from youtube says it best and I want to include it here. This is from 91WCombatVet who has received 75 likes for his post below. Let’s get him up to over 100 and like this video!
Having been a soldier who served alongside gay men, I can say it had no
bearing on how I thought about them or treated them – and this was the
case for the majority of us in the military. We genuinely love each
other, brothers in arms has a deep meaning for soldiers. A lot of the
guys I knew who were afraid to come out ended up finding the strength to
come out through the support they go from their units, strangely
enough. Gay, straight, bi – it doesn’t matter. I got your six.
We all have your six, gay straight or otherwise and I want to say, thank you to all of our military veterans for the 4th of July even though it doesn’t seem like it’s enough! Thank you Gary Sinise for encouraging us to give back to Veterans on the 4th of July! Something we should do everyday!!
